Egypt finds second pier at ancient temple complex

“CAIRO, Jan 26 (Reuters Life!) – Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a pier used by ancient Egyptians to access the Karnak temple complex during the dry season in the southern city of Luxor, the Egyptian government said on Monday.”

Queen Seshestet “maybe” found in Cairo

“CAIRO (Reuters) – Egyptian archaeologists have found the remains of a mummy thought to be that of Queen Seshestet, the mother of a pharaoh who ruled Egypt in the 24th century BC, the government said on Thursday.
After five hours spent lifting the lid of a sarcophagus in a pyramid discovered south of Cairo last year, they found a skull, legs, pelvis, other body parts wrapped in linen, and ancient pottery, the government’s antiquities department said.”

Two tombs from Egypt’s 5th Dynasty discovered at Saqqara

“Cairo – An archeological mission of the Egyptian Higher Council of Antiquities (EHCA) on Sunday announced the discovery of two rock-cut tombs that date back to Egypt’s 5th Dynasty (2323-2356 BC). The tombs were found at the el-Deir bridge area in the Saqqara necropolis near Cairo, the site where the rulers of Egypt’s Old Kingdom were buried, and some 400 metres south of the step pyramid of King Djoser. ”
